Derek Borland

Derek has lived on Grantley Place since November 1997, originally with his wife and two children, Scott and Kirsty, but now that his son has now moved out just with his wife and daughter. A fully qualified Chartered Insurer who worked as an Investment Director for Coutts Investment Bank (part of the Royal Bank of Scotland) for  five years and prior to that for 21 years with the Financial Services arm of the Halifax. 

In addition to the business skills gained during his career he volunteered as a school governor for 17 years at the primary school in Halifax his children attended, the last five of which he acted as Chair of Governors.  One of his proudest achievements during his term of office as Chair was when the school obtaining an outstanding rating at its recent Ofsted inspection.  

He is an active member of the Woodland Glade Community, playing in the walking 5-a-side football on Friday afternoons, a long standing member of the badminton club and plays table tennis on a Wednesday evening as well as being a regular supporter of the various community and charity events held at the club. He believes strongly in the community spirit that is engendered and fostered by our facilities.  Having enjoyed these benefits over the last 22 years he now contributes his skills and experience towards the ongoing development of all aspects of the club.
