Halifax born, grew up in Carlton, Skipton and Huddersfield. Started work in Huddersfield at Brook Motors as a Management Trainee and Computer Programmer. Upon acceptance to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants moved to work with Ford of Europe as a cost accountant, moving through various positions in various countries, Financial Analyst, Investment Analyst, Budget Supervisor and Plant Controller finishing as Director of Finance for Ford of France Manufacturing in Bordeaux.
Transferred to Ford USA where he worked in various financial posts associated with Forward Model Program Planning. Left Ford to start his own Automotive Dealership, bought or started a further four companies and operated a total of eleven New Vehicle franchises as Chief Executive Officer. Sold his last dealership in 2001 to move into property development.
This allowed more time flexibility to pursue his passion for Mountaineering. Climbed extensively in the Alps including a winter ascent of Mont Blanc. Also climbed in the Peruvian Andes including "the most beautiful mountain in the world" - Alpamayo (5997 mtrs). Climbed in Kyrgyzstan where he is credited with six first ascents. Cycles with the Huddersfield Star Wheelers and races with the League Of Veteran Racing Cyclists. Enjoys Olympic distance Triathlons, competed in many age group championships his successes include a second place in the English National championship. Likes to play Bridge and loves all forms of challenges or competitions.
