The golf section of Woodland Glade play for two eponymous trophies each year, the Santa Stableford and the Keith Lawrence Memorial Trophy. As its name suggests, the Santa Stableford is normally played between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, while the Keith Lawrence Memorial is usually played on Easter Friday. Both events are full handicap, stableford competitions and are played on local courses. Each day starts with tea or coffee and bacon butties, followed by 18 holes of golf and finished with soup and sandwiches after the golf, all held at the golf course. We then go back to the Centre for the prize giving ceremonies, together with appropriate celebratory or commemorative drinks. Keith's wife, Pat, generally attends the Keith Lawrence event to present the trophy to the winner.
The section is open to all residents and their friends. We welcome golfers of all abilities and experience, from the complete novice through to experienced and capable golfers. Notices are placed in Centre Scene and at the Centre to advise of the date of an event and its cost. A sheet is placed on the noticeboard at the Centre for prospective players to confirm their attendance.
